Nanohorizons' Humidity Sensor is made up of deposited nano-structured materials as column-void network silicon that provide large surface area for detecting subtle changes in humidity, such as that from inhalation and exhalation, with fast response and recovery-time. Its sensitivity enables measurement and recording of respiration rate (# of breath cycles/minute). Potential products integrated with the Breathing Sensor include:
- Respiratory monitor for neonates and infants in critical care
- Sleep apnea diagnostic or monitoring device for sleep disorder patients, and
- Disposable infant resiratory monitor for home-use
